We are eager to get started with all of our ideas. This morning we met with Jillian Ospina, our eLearning coordinator, to discuss and learn more about the eLearning Ontario LMS. There is so much to learn ourselves, that we are both a little nervous and anxious! We are happy that we will be able to accommodate the many different levels of learners within our classrooms next year. We believe that when students are able to individualize their own learning and choose a task at their level, they become responsible, engaged and successful.
The eLearning website will be part of the students' daily lives, both in school and at home. Although our focus will be Math, we will be using it for most subjects. This is where we will be learning, along with the students, on how to navigate our way through Content, Assignments, Dropbox, Pager tool, ePortfolio, Discussion forums and much much more!
Students will organize their work not only online, but with the use of a binder with dividers for each strand of Math, Science, etc., so that parents see that the class consists of both online and face-to-face (traditional) ways of learning. This will be… our Blended Classroom!
Since our focus really is Math, eLearning will be used daily with one day per week for students to work collaboratively with their peers, in order to further enhance their Math communication.
During the summer, we plan to explore and become more familiar and comfortable with navigating the eLO website.
