We have finally begun our journey with the blended classroom. Mrs. Rinaldi and I organized and assembled our new furniture in August. Out with the desks, in with tables, futons and bean bag chairs. We bought baskets to organize, new carpets, and in fact, our classrooms are not classrooms anymore; they are LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS!
The students were very excited to see the changes. They were eager to write on the tables (we have big dry-erase stickers on them) and make themselves comfortable on the new furniture. What we didn't expect, was that students would come to school on the first day with so much stuff! Since we got rid of the desks, we bough cute little baskets for students to put the essentials... well, some students showed up with 3 pencils cases! Our cute little baskets had to be rethought.
All in all however, we are getting excited to start our 1:1 iPad mini program. Students have brought in their permissions and we, the teachers, are excited to try a new teaching style. Here are a few pics of our new environment!
